Make no mistake this frame needs a lot of work to make it road-worthy again. The lugs are nice and the frame features an early Trek metal head badge along with its original decals. The original Tange Levin headset appears to be in good condition and the fork rotates smoothly, though I have not taken the headset apart. more rest of the frame appears straight and the fork is in good condition despite localized rust.
Most of the rust is around the dent in the top tube where the paint took as much of a beating as the steel. Other flaws include a stuck dropout adjustment screw on the non-drive side, lots of scratches, and localized rust which does not appear to have penetrated below the surface. The obvious reason it was discarded is the large dent in the top tube which, with some effort, can be fixed. The seat tube measures 57 cm and the top tube measures 57.5 cm, both center-to-center. According to the faint serial number(H6C8A24) This Trek 710 was built in 1978(Madison, WI? and features Reynolds 531 tubes and fork blades, Campagnolo rear dropout, and a Tange Levin headset. I rescued this vintage Trek 710 frame and fork from dumpster oblivion knowing that someone out there is willing to give it the love it deserves. Local pickup can be arranged-contact me first.
